The Upstate SC Alliance is a public/private regional economic development organization designed to market and promote the dynamic commerce-rich, northwestern corner of South Carolina. Their mission is to position the Upstate to excel in the global economy through strategic marketing, collaboration and thought leadership. They work as a team with local economic developers, investors and SC Department of Commerce to move businesses forward in the Upstate.
Upstate South Carolina is considered as the perfect gateway to do business with the rest of the South and the US in general. It's located between Charlotte and Atlanta, has rapid access to the Southeast and is the nearest time zone to home (-5 GTM). Belgian companies have thrived in the Upstate for decades. And Orian Rugs, who has been producing more than 40 years in its Anderson facility. In February 2021 technology scale-up Pozyx landed in the Upstate. Pozyx is a technology scale-up that provide ultra-wide band, real-time location technology systems used in a variety of sectors.
